We had a great time at Day Star Farm for Kate and Jeremy's couples session! What better place for cozy, holiday photos! Aside from being a very picturesque location for photos, Day Star Farm is a family run, horse breeding farm. As a horse person myself, I loved seeing the pretty horses grazing in the pastures. The farm is also home to a very friendly donkey that happened to make his way into a few of the images.
I first met Doug and Julie by chance. A total moment of serendipity in our nations capitol. While shooting an engagement session for another couple we happened to notice something very interesting happening behind us! Doug was down on one knee proposing to Julie. It was a beautiful moment and I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures. I was so honored when they asked me a few months later to photograph their wedding! Of course, how could I not?! Doug and Julie's wedding took place in the backyard of Julie's parent's home in Colonial Beach, VA. And I am using the word backyard loosely because what it really is, is a beautiful display of amazing design and decorating talent! The entire waterfront home and property is decorated in a nautical and beach theme - and it's totally whimsical and lovely. Julie is quite the DIY'er and designed and created the majority of the wedding decor herself. From the floral arrangements down to the chalk art and handwritten table numbers, it was a bride's backyard wedding dream! I hope you enjoy this glimpse back into Julie and Doug's wonderful day. Congrats again Doug and Julie! I know the two of you will have a beautiful life together full of joy and laughter! XOXO
